Melanie Morris

back to artists

Melanie Morris has painted in oil and watercolor but her medium of choice is acrylic. She enjoys the versatility that allows for experimentation and quick layering of colors. Melanie found that her creative spirit was freed when she began painting with a palette knife. She enjoys the interesting textures and effects that she achieves by painting with a knife.

The works of Post-Impressionist artists have greatly influenced Melanie’s work. She is also fascinated by Richard Diebenkorn’s representational work and Edward Hopper’s paintings of Monhegan Island.

Melanie enjoys plein air painting and is drawn to scenes with interesting color combination as well as strong light and shadow. Melanie’s goal for her art is to draw closer to the Creator while capturing the beauty she sees in the world.
