Marc Clauzade

back to artists

“When one is a pedestrian, or a simple client sitting outside a café, subjects of observation are endless. Eyes, ears, hands, all take notes and simply returning to the studio does the rest.“

Born in Paris n 1957, Marc Clauzade distinguished himself early on in life by his drawings which were precise, lively and naturally full of life. His studies as a metal construction's draughtsman allowed him to envisage a promising career as an engineer. In 1980 however, he preferred to enroll for six years at the "Beaux arts" in Toulouse. Shortly after obtaining his diploma he is awarded a coveted award for young talents : "Le premier grand prix de peinture à l'huile" (First prize in oil painting) of the "FIAP" salon in Paris. This prize will be the first of many more.
Today, Marc Clauzade's paintings are shown in permanent exhibitions at the "l'Amour de l'Art" gallery in Paris and at the "French Art Network Gallery" in New Orleans – USA.
Women and fashion, his favourite subjects, are painted on the borders of reality. Although he is very contemporary in the way he works, he prefers to paint scenes which could be situated (we guide ourselves, of course) in the nineteen twenties and thirties, avoiding modern day scenes.
